Using Google keyword tool, he found out whether or not there are any related keyword terms that have a somewhat high search volume, and relatively low competition. This is the best chance of getting on the first page of Google, while still seeing enough traffic to do something worthy.

Adding Keywords on Domain Name

Part went after security guard training niche and his domain name was http://www.securityguardtraininghq.com.

Writing Great Content

Focusing quality vs quantity he hired a writer to write articles on security guard training requirements for every state in USA. The blog has less than 150 post and it is pulling $3K a month.

Back Linking Strategy

I think this is the one factor that is 90% responsible for success. Pat submitted his blog and artciles to:-

The fourth (blog networks) is a bit controversial because I think it runs foul of Google policy against buying links. It can bring instant results but once Google catches up you, expect a Google penalty.

It is very unlikely that the majority starting a blog for profit will see similar success. For most of us we will need to be diligent, persistence and patient with our blogs.
