There are two methods of getting visitors to your new website, promoting your new website through advertising or getting visitors to find your website when they search for your product on Google, Bing, Yahoo or another search engine.

Traffic from search engine is awesome because it doesn't cost you a penny but to get these visitors you need to add a blog to your static website. A blog will be a place where you write on topics focusing on your product or niche. Search engines love blogs and the more content a blog has the more visitors they will get.

1. Understand Your Niche /Product / Service Be For Attracting Visitors To Your New Website

For a new website to attract traffic, the first assignment is to understand the Niche/Product / Service What kind of people are you building the website for? You’ve to truly understand what competitions lie ahead and there is no shortcut on it.

It’s not enough to know the problem this people face; you’ve to understand what got them into this problem in the first place. Prospects do not want to know the pain they’re going through; instead, what they’re after is to get rid of the symptoms. Does it make sense?

If you can understand your niche, attracting targeted traffic won’t be difficult. Think about it?

2. Use Google Keyword Tool To Do Research On Visitors You want To Attract to Your New Site

The best organic traffic comes from Google.  Make use of there free tool. When you log in into Google Keyword tool you can enter your target keywords and Google will give you a full list of keywords related to your keyword. For example, if your new website is about selling shoes online and you enter "shoes" you will see stuff like

• Black shoes
• black leather shoes
• mens black leather shoes
• etc.

This kind of information is important because it will show you how your target customers think and you can tailor your website content accordingly.

3. Write Powerful Content To Attract Visitors to Your New Website

Once you have studied your niche/product/service well you will be able to gather helpful data to help when creating content for your new website. 

Once you understand your potential customers, go ahead and weave it into your content. Use the questions they ask as your headline and start the introduction with it. Use the same question within your content and in your third paragraph, solve the problem creatively and command action. Never allow your visitors to leave without taking action – it’s a waste of time and resources.

4. Build Links For Higher Ranking To Attract More Visitors to Your New Website

Google ranks websites based on links, what that means is the more websites and blogs link to your site the higher you should expect your website to rank. If you can get your website on page one of Google you should expect to attract more visitors.

One method of getting links is writing guest posts for blogs related to your niche. Search Google for your primary keyword and research the ‘top 10’ results. Contact the blog owners and propose to write for them. You’ll definitely be turned down by most bloggers, but don’t give up. Gear up your steps and move to the next blog. Don't expect to see immediate impact when you write guest post, you will start seeing results 2-3 months down the line.

To stand out from the crowd you need to make a splash. I will show you tips and ideas on how to successfully launch a new website without spending money.

When it comes to website announcement I urge you not to be shy. Consider the site launch as a baby shower and in every baby shower, the mother is proud of her baby. The new website is your baby and you have put effort and money to build it so be proud of it. Don't be afraid and worry whether people will like your website or not, if you love it because of the quality of the posts and great design, there will be enough people who will agree with you.

Find out the top 10 websites in your niche and see whether they accept guest posts. Once you have found websites in your niche that accepts guest posts, write quality 650+ words article with links back to your website and submit them. This is a smart way to launch your blog/website because you will get the much valued back link. You also get new readers from the website.

I consider this an underground tactic of launching a new website. Visit top ten websites in your niche and check out there blog. Make an effort to visit daily and leave a comment and make sure to add your website URL on the website field. Your comment should contribute to the discussion and be thought provoking. Readers and regular commentors on the website will click on your comment and check out your website. This is a way to announce yourself without saying am here.

Submit the website to website / blog directory

There are website/blog directory for every niche. Find your niche and register your website. Majority of directories require new websites have some content so make sure before you launch the website you have something like 20 articles published.

Contact Your Local Newspaper

Local newspaper and magazine are ever looking for interesting and filler material to fill the pages. Shoot them an email and tell them why your website is of benefit to the local community. If your new website serves some purpose to the community you can be guaranteed the paper will make an announcement.

Take Advantage of Online Press Release Services

Register with an online press release service and make your website launch announcement. The good press release services require subscription but there are a few ones that are free to use. Examples PRLOG and Free Press Release.

Submit You Website to Google.
Before you do all the above, go to Google and submit your new website. Google will come and crawl and index your new website / blog.

The beauty of wordpress is the thousands of wordpress plugins that you can use to spice up your blog. There are plugins to track traffic, social media, add links etc. All those plugins are good but there are plugins that I think must be installed in a new blog.

All In One SEO Plugin This plugin makes sure your blog is optimized for search engines. It allows you to change the titles of your blog post and add a short description. Google XML Sitemap - This plugin generates a sitemap of your blog and every time you publish a new post, Google, Bing and other search engines are notified of the changes. Yet Another Related Post Plugin - What this plugin does is, it adds a list of posts below an article that may be related to the article. Worpress Plugin To Track Blog Stats
Jetpack From Wordress - previously it was known as wordpress stats. It is a simple plugin that provides you with information about the number of daily pageviews, the blog post that are being read and keywords that users are using to find your content. This is the basic information that you need to keep blogging but if you need data like the location of your visitors you will need to install advanced analytics tools such as sitemeter or Google analytics.

Wordpress Plugin To Deter Hackers
Wordpress firewall plugin - Developed by SEOeggheads this plugin sends you an email every time someone tries to hack into your wordress installation. It is easy to use, you just install it and activate it and you are ready to go. What I like about this plugin is the email they send you includes the hackers IP address. You can then add the IP address to your blocked list in the CPanel. It is not 100% hack proof, I have been hacked several times when it was still running but it has done a good job of deterring amateur hackers.

These are the basic plugins that I first install in a new wordpress blogs to hit the ground running. I add other essential plugins along the way.

Remember, to avoid being hacked make sure to keep all your plugins up to date.
